Friday

Vortex

00:00 - Mercury

Unseen physical forces, bodies and objects appear through silvery surfaces, electromagnetic phenomena and technologies, echoing and reverberating with the fullness of our shared atmosphere. Through the amateur and hobbyist’s electro- magnetic enthusiasms, we consider questions of ownership and the commons.

14:00 - A Decade of Supernormal

"I'd describe it as a cross between a carnival, a circus, a happening, maybe a kind of alien abduction and a country fayre, intimate and all-inclusive. It's a cult, before it becomes creepy" - so reckoned Keran James in 2011 of SN - was he right? John Doran asks a bunch of the assembled heads who've done battle with logic and reason in pursuit of this festival to reflect on how Supernormal fits in with the countercultural lineage of Braziers, and where it finds itself in the here, the now and the great beyond.

16:30 - RAVINE/MACHINE

Summoning landscape and projection rituals with toy harp and rotary candles, RAVINE/MACHINE is an audio-visual fieldtrip like no other. Reminiscent of the do-it-yourself style of early projections, their hacked instruments are both lulling and surreal, inspired by reworking forgotten traditions of ‘the live geography show’ for the end of the world.

18:00 - Make Music like Mushrooms

Make Music Like Mushrooms is a collaboration between queer artists and musicians Nina Scott and Rubie. Join us in a celebration of Fungi in all their glorious queerness and co-create an experimental score with us inspired by mycelium. Expect raucous choral singing, spontaneous conducting and opportunities for sharing and reflection. No previous musical experience necessary.

19:30 - J Martin

Audiovuisual Bristol-based artist J. Martin walks a delicately balanced line between the natural and the mechanical; exploring memory, technology, nostalgia and uncertainty. Hypnotic and piston-esque metallic beats that churn and pulse with production line precision.

21:15 - M a t e k o i

M a t e k o i are audio-visual duo Maxim Barron (Toy, Patent Saints), and visual artist Daisy Dickinson (Adrena Adrena). Hypnotic. Strobe soaked. Sonically spatialised, Matekoi inhabits the space between.

00:45 - Anything Moving

A magical show of projected recordings made by Kitchen Table Photo Club and Esther May Campbell. An art project orchestrated from collaborations between a Bristol based kids club and the woodland world of animals, plants and the less seen. During dusks, we travelled deep into stories of wild weddings, did some serious goofing until a call-and-response began between multiple worlds.

Red Kite

Noods Radio favourite and celebrated Bristol head Lionel Lamadon fearlessly quests along the boundaries of experimental music, from spoken word, sound poetry, concrete music to noise, industrial, electronica.

15:45 - Acolytes

DJ and producer who creates a meme-like re-imagination of free improvisation through words, sounds, found samples and warped polyrhythmic percussion. Lurching from high tempo assaults informed by transglobal dance music to melancholic loop-based dreamscapes.

17:15 - Pifco

20 years of falling down the stairs music and marital discord from Leeds' upstart boy/girl duo." A lack of success has never held us back"

18:45 - ES

The London quartet have coined an uncanny sound, - icy DIY punk that revels in pointed anarcho tension and aquatic deathrock melody - impactful and eldritch in equal measure.

20:00 - Cher vs The Pixies Karaoke

If we could turn back time, if we could find a way, we'd take back all the words that hurt you, and you'd stay. Take your pick of these two legends and flex those pipes!
